There are many volunteer opportunities available at Berks Women in Crisis. Volunteers who work directly with clients must complete an extensive 66-Hour educational seminar over an 11-week period. There are many volunteer opportunities that do NOT require this training; however, all volunteers must obtain criminal background checks and child abuse clearances at no cost to the volunteer.
Volunteers do not need the 66-Hour training for any of the following tasks:
- Special Events, including fundraisers
- Participating in public awareness events
- Helping to set up awareness displays
- Yard & garden work at our Center
- Assisting at volunteer and health fairs
- Assisting staff & trained volunteers with children’s activities in the Safe House
- Donation pick-up
- Office help and bulk mailings
- Collecting used cell phones
- Cooking or bringing in a meal for Safe House residents (up to 50 people)
